Puppy Potty Training

Young Puppies don't have the necessary muscles and bladder control until they are 4 – 7 months old. Until then they are prone to spontaneously urinating when in stimulating situations such as when you arrive home after work, when they are frightened, or when around other animals or perhaps even strangers. Be careful how you react to this. They can't help it, so don't discipline them. Do not discipline the puppy for this, as it is something they cannot control.

Puppy pads are the best way to go when housebreaking your pet, particularly if it's a smaller dog that you plan to keep in the house most of the time. Doggypads are specially treated to attract the pet to the pad, making the housebreaking process that much easier! They're absorbent, leak proof, and they conceal odor, keeping your home clean.

Many dog owners like the use of puppy training pads. In today's busy society, not everyone has the time to take out their new puppy every couple of hours, especially if they have to go to work. Puppy training pads make the mess easier to clean up and are more convenient than putting down newspaper. Some breeders will use puppy training pads to line birthing boxes or puppy playpens until the puppies are old enough to begin house training.

Some dog owners decide to use puppy training pads into adulthood. For toy breeds, going outdoors may be more of a hassle than simply picking up and discarding the pad. If you don't mind that the dog goes to the bathroom in the house, and you are able to give your dog regular exercise instead of just confining them to one room, then this can be a solution for you. Other dog owners find that puppy training pads are also useful for “problem wetters.” Some older dogs become incontinent, and laying puppy training pads in their sleeping area can make it easier to clean.
